Quebec - IQC (2019)

This Macro BIM Adoption Study – Canada was conducted in collaboration with Groupe BIM du Quebec (GBQ) and École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) in the context of the Quebec Construction 4.0 Initiative.

 Latin America - IDB (2019)

This Macro BIM Adoption Study – Latam is conducted as part of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) RG-T3252 project: “Improving the Competitiveness of the Construction Sector through Digital Transformation". For more information about this project, please visit iadb.org/en/project/RG-T3252

The survey is now closed. Data collection started on Nov 1, 2018 and concluded on Feb 8, 2019. Survey data wasn't released. For more information about the project, study, and report, please contact IDB.

Hong Kong - Global BIM CoE (2019)

In collaboration with Tongji University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Nottingham, and University of Hong Kong, the Global BIM Centre of Excellence (CoE) has investigated the level of BIM adoption in Hong Kong. Data collection closed on on Jan 14, 2019.  The project is led by Ms. Miranda Lui of CoE.

Peru - PUCP (2019)

In collaboration with the BIMe Initiative, the Department of Engineering of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) has conducted an investigation into the level of BIM adoption in Peru.

En colaboración con BIMe Initiative, el Departamento de Ingeniería de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) ha desarrollado una investigación sobre el nivel de Adopción BIM en Perú. La data fue recolectada a través de encuestas y el reporte está disponible en inglés y español. El proyecto fue liderado por Danny Murguia, Profesor Auxiliar del Departamento de Ingeniería PUCP, y fue desarrollando entre Enero y Mayo de 2019. El reporte está disponible en inglés y español. 


Data was collected via surveys and is available as a report in both English and Spanish. The study was led by Mr. Danny Murguia, Assistant Professor at PUCP, and was conducted from January through to end of May 2019. The report is available in both English and Spanish:

This release is in agreement with PUCP and is intended to enable other researchers to conduct their independent analyses.

Spain - BIMETRIC | buildingSMART Spain (2018-2019)

In collaboration with the BIMe Initiative, the buildingSMART Spanish Chapter (bSSCH) has investigated the level of BIM adoption in Spain. Data collection was completed on April 24, 2018The project was led by Mr. Sergio Muñoz Gomez, Secretario of buildingSMART Spanish Chapter and Mr. Victor Roig Segura, LEAN & BIM Consultant at BIMETRIC Lab.

Another round of data collection took place throughout October and November 2019This second project was led by Mr. Victor Roig Segura, LEAN & BIM Consultant at BIMETRIC Lab and Mr. Sergio Muñoz Gomez, Secretary of buildingSMART Spain.

As per the BIMe Initiative General Principles - and in addition to the Macro Adoption Models already released under Creative Commons - the Macro Adoption raw data presented in this report has been made available - click here to download the Excel file (40kb). This release is in agreement with bSSCH and is intended to enable other researchers to conduct their independent analyses.

Part 1: the data collected was used to generated the "Macro Estudio de Adopción BIM 2018".

Brazil - Antac (2018)

In collaboration with the BIMe Initiative, the Associação Nacional de Tecnologia no Ambiente Construído (ANTAC) is investigating the level of BIM adoption in Brazil.

Data collection started on Sep 17, 2018 and is now compleyed. For more information, please contact the Study Leader Prof. Dr. Regina Ruschel.

Egypt - BUE (2018)

In collaboration with the BIMe Initiative, the British University in Egypt (BUE) has investigated the level of BIM adoption in Egypt. The project is led by AProf. Ayman A. E. Othman, Head of Architectural Engineering Department at BUE, and is assisted by Ms. Heba ElSaay (Teaching Assistant).

Ireland - CitA | BICP (2017)

In collaboration with the BIMe Initiative, the Construction IT Alliance (CitA) have investigated the level of BIM adoption in Ireland through the BIM Innovation Capability Programme (BICP). Note: Data collection completed May 8, 2017.

As per the BIMe Initiative General Principles - and in addition to the Macro Adoption Models already released under Creative Commons - the Macro Adoption raw data presented in this report has been made available - click here to download the Excel file (41kb). This release is in agreement with CitA and is intended to enable worldwide topical researchers to conduct their own analyses

Note: A new study was launched in Jan 2019 to extend and update the data.

The BIM Innovation Capability Programme for Ireland (BICP) BIM in Ireland Report 2017 provides "an in depth review of BIM in Ireland with regards to key government publications, BIM champions, existing standards and procurement routes, BIM training programmes, current initiatives and maturity within public and private sector projects."

The research findings within this report - those related to Macro BIM Adoption - have been enabled by the published research of Dr. Bilal Succar and Dr. Mohamad Kassem (Paper A8 and Paper B3 - listed here). Data collection, representation and publication are covered by a Collaboration Agreement between CitA and the BIMe Initiative (signed April 18, 2017).
